He fell into a downward spiral of homelessness and addiction, using drugs to escape the trauma of his past. Today marks the 30th anniversary of the start of the ground campaign for #OperationDesertStorm that began on Feb. 24, 1991. The U.S. Military Academy honors the service and legacy of our Desert Storm Veterans and coalition partners from 31 nations. Gen. H. Norman Schwarzkopf, Class of 1956, served as Commander of U.S. Central Command and was also the commander of coalition forces.
