The #opossum in the clinic was a tad shy to eat infront of anyone today.. opossums are generally shy and non-aggressive creatures that prefer to avoid confrontation. They are gentle marsupials whose primary defense mechanisms are to scare potential threats away by hissing and showing their teeth, or to "play dead" (go into a state of tonic immobility) if they feel truly cornered. Opossums are peaceful animals that prefer not to fight although they may hiss, growl, and even bite if cornered. It is much more likely that the opossum will faint or “play dead” at the prospect of a confrontation. People tend to think Opossums are unclean and disease ridden but it is just the opposite.
